| Race Summary |
|
KALYRRA was reluctant to load then fractious in the
gate, set the clear pace while off the rail, shook off PERFECT RUBY
when set down at the top of the stretch and drew off under strong
right hand urging. PERFECT RUBY raced three wide on the first turn,
was reserved off the pace, rallied four then three wide on the far
turn, made a bid entering the stretch but was turned away and proved
no match while just able to get the place. LUV MEADOW was well
placed on the inside, chased the leader on the far turn and was
outfinished by PERFECT RUBY for the place. MAL'S MAGIC lagged well
behind the field, came three wide into the stretch and failed to
threaten. CRAFTY GREY raced three wide on the first turn, settled
between rivals on the backstretch, was urged along while off the
rail on the far turn and came up empty. EDITOR'S BLAZE was unhurried
while off the rail, shifted three wide near the quarter-pole and
never reached contention. B'S PROSPECT raced five wide on the first
turn, settled on the outside down the backstretch, came up empty
while three wide early on the far turn and stopped.

AREYOUWITHMESOFAR steadied slightly
after the start, was unhurried at the back of the field,
commenced a rally while three wide on the turn, swung
five wide into the stretch, closed fast to get the lead
passing the furlong marker then drew away under strong
handling. QUIET DEPUTY came in at the start and bumped
several times with FINDABEL, settled well off the pace,
moved closer while four wide on the turn, surged to the
lead at the top of the stretch, lost the lead passing
the furlong marker and proved no match for the winner
while clear for the place. SIR ABBIE was ridden along
from the start, raced off the rail on the turn, drifted
in late and bumped MARK AND BUCK then narrowly earned
the show. MARK AND BUCK was away alertly, set the pace
while off the rail, vied inside on the turn, failed to
match QUIET DEPUTY in upper stretch and tired then was
bumped late and missed the show. MEET DR MIKE was well
placed off the pace, raced off the rail on the turn,
drifted out in upper stretch and came up empty. WILD SUN
tracked the pace on the outside, raced three then four
wide on the turn and faded. FINDABEL was bumped several
times at the start, moved up to contest the lead midway
down the backstretch, vied outside of MARK AND BUCK on
the turn and stopped. |

YOUR BLUFFING , forwardly placed under rating along
the rail, moved closer leaving the three eighths pole, eased out for
room nearing the lane, forged to command three sixteenths out,
shifted in a bit and drew away while well in hand. WATER CANNON set
a pressured pace along the inside, was overtaken by the winner in
upper stretch, continued willingly to the finish and was clearly
best of the rest. WHATS WHAT stalked the pace off the rail, made a
mild three wide run nearing the lane, loomed briefly then faded in
the final furlong. SPEED WHIZ pressed the pace two wide and gave way
in upper stretch. LEGEND'S SILVER , three wide early, angled to the
inside down the backstretch, continued along the rail to the lane
but failed to respond. |

MARYFIELD had good early speed and set the pace
three deep early, inched away and angled in some into the turn,
drifted in a bit in the stretch and won clear under urging.
ARGENTINISIMA (ARG) prompted the pace inside then stalked a bit off
the rail on the turn, came out into the stretch and held second. RUN
FOR DESSERT off a bit slowly, angled in and saved ground off the
pace, moved up inside on the turn and into the stretch and gained
the show. VIRTUOUS LADY chased outside or off the rail, came three
deep into the stretch and lacked the needed rally. SUBWAY SING
prompted the pace between horses then stalked outside the runner-up,
continued off the rail on the turn and weakened. KING'S CHARMER
allowed to settle outside, dropped back on the turn, angled to the
inside in the stretch and did not rally. LOVE BEAT chased off the
rail, came out into the stretch and could not summon the necessary
late kick. CLASSICAL LADY broke a bit slowly, chased inside, came a
bit off the rail on the turn, angled out into the stretch and
weakened. |

SERENA'S CAT showed speed along the inside, drew
clear in early stretch, then was fully extended to hold sway while
drifting out. AZEVEDO outrun early, swung wide for the stretch run
and rallied to be just up for the place. SILVERSIDER rated off the
pace after clipping heels in the early going, was steadied a couple
of times when blocked in behind rivals racing into the stretch,
angled out and finished willingly while being edged for the place.
HAND ME DOWN chased the winner into the stretch and weakened. PSALMS
OF PRAISE reserved in striking position off the pace, had no
response when asked. DOUBLE DELTA chased the pace along the rail,
was steadied in behind the winner on the turn and again in early
stretch, then tired. LADYBURN allowed to settle after breaking
slowly, was steadied in behind HAND ME DOWN late and failed to
recover. ROAD TRACK'S JOY prompted the pace outside SERENA'S CAT
into the stretch, then faltered. |

AFLEET TIGER rated off the pace after hitting the
gate at the start, angled four wide on the turn, then rallied to
reach SECRETO'S STAG at the sixteenth pole and wore that rival down
to be just up in the final strides. SECRETO'S STAG chased the pace
four wide, drew clear just past midway of the turn, responded when
challenged by AFLEET TIGER and just failed to last. ROYAL QUARTORZE
steadied when bumped by HAMLIN at the start, was steadied again to
avoid running up on heels on the backstretch, angled out five wide
on the turn while moving up with AFLEET TIGER, then couldn't stay
with that rival in the drive while gaining the show. BANFF vied for
the lead along the rail to midway of the turn and tired. DOCTOR
BOROS vied for the lead between horses to midway of the turn, then
faltered. HAMLIN was outrun after being knocked into ROYAL QUATORZE
at the start. OUTGRACES bumped hard with HAMLIN at the start,
pressed the pace three wide into the turn and faded.

Eyes On Eddy Gets Break in Suwannee River

Eyes On Eddy and Taittinger Rose, the only horses entered in Saturday's $100,000 Suwannee River Handicap for the Gulfstream Park main track only, ran first and second in the sloppy going when the race was taken off the turf.
A grade III race for fillies and mares on the turf, the race loses its graded status pending a review by the American Graded Stakes Committee. Seven horses were scratched when the 1 1/8-mile event came off the turf.
Ralls and Foster LLC's 4-year-old filly Eyes On Eddy, the 13-10 favorite who led by four lengths in the stretch under Rafael Bejarano, dug deep to hold off Taittinger Rose and Cornelio Velasquez in the final stages for a half-length victory. Eyes On Eddy was drifting out late.
Trained by Paul McGee, Eyes On Eddy is a daughter of Touch Gold who had won the My Charmer Handicap on the main track at Turfway Park Dec. 10 by 7 ¼ lengths. Eyes On Eddy, who paid $4.60, $3.20, and $2.40, crossed the finish line in 1:49:56 over the 'sloppy' track.
Taittinger Rose returned $3.60 and $2.40. Marchonin, with John Velazquez aboard, finished third, 9 ¾ lengths behind the runner-up, and paid $2.60.
Then came Cotopaxi and Elle Runaway in the slimmed down field of five.
Eyes On Eddy improved to 5-3-1 in 14 lifetime starts with earnings of $297,690.
"We hate for it to rain on a big day like this, but it worked out great for this filly in this stakes," McGee said.
