|
LOUIS THE BOLD came out at the start bumping SHIFT
TIME, was never far back and three or four wide, moved to challenge
leaving the turn, gained a slim lead, battled with INDEPENDENT
BANKER into the final furlong while inside that one and drove clear
under urging. INDEPENDENT BANKER settled within easy striking
distance four or five wide, moved with the winner while outside that
one approaching the stretch, battled on even terms into the final
furlong but couldn't keep pace in the late going as second best.
SHIFT TIME, bumped at the start by the winner and DANCE ON, was
steadied, moved up quickly to vie for the advantage inside, gained a
slight edge, held on well for a half and gradually weakened.
MARIANAS tracked the pace from the outset four wide, pulled the
rider to the fore on the turn but weakened entering the stretch. NI
KEL WILLY, four or five wide much of the way, had no rally. DANCE ON
came in at the start bumping SHIFT TIME, raced four or five wide and
wasn't a factor in the stretch run. MARINA KING never menaced.

|
PYRAMID LOVE, reluctant to load into the gate, was
blindfolded before entering, went up early to press front-running
VICTOIRE BATAILLE in hand, took over leaving the second turn,
accelerated quickly to a clear advantage, then was under urging the
remainder. EYES ON EDDY, in behind foes early, raced between horses
around the far turn, loomed four wide for the final furlong and
wasn't good enough. CLASSY CHARM, well placed in behind rivals from
the outset, eased out between foes four wide entering the upper
stretch, was just off the winner but failed to continue. CAPE HOPE,
unhurried early, raced five wide around the far turn, was asked for
more nearing the stretch but failed to offer the needed late
response. PATRICIA (ARG) stumbled at the break, was outrun for six
furlongs while three wide, maneuvered six wide into the lane and
improved position. VICTOIRE BATAILLE gained the advantage near the
inside early, managed a slight edge, surrendered the lead to the
winner approaching the stretch and weakened. TAPPIN FOR GOLD tracked
the pace five wide from early on, was asked for her best about the
five-sixteenths pole and faltered. |

| Race Summary |
|
ADMIRAL BIRD, rated off the dueling leaders three
or four wide early, swept to the front in the upper stretch, drew
clear, then was fully extended to last. TWILIGHT METEOR hopped while
breaking slowly, settled near the inside, eased out four or five
wide leaving the second turn, had aim in the drive but couldn't get
up. COBRADOR, within striking distance always and five wide, fanned
wider in the upper stretch but couldn't muster the needed response.
EIGHTEENTHOFMARCH forced the pace from early on, engaged
front-running PETE THE POET in earnest on the backstretch, headed
that one for the lead, battled up close to the lane and weakened.
SCOTT'S TIME settled in behind horses early, worked his way out five
wide entering the upper stretch and failed to respond. PETE THE POET
broke sharply to gain the lead, opened a clear advantage on the
first turn, was headed on the backstretch from the outside by
EIGHTEENTHOFMARCH, continued up close to the stretch and faltered.
INDEPENDENT BANKER tracked the dueling leaders three or four wide
for six furlongs and weakened. |
