Race Summary

GUACAMOLE chased the pace on the outside, took the lead near the seven-sixteenths pole, drew clear on the turn, extended the lead in upper stretch and held under urging. STORMY WEDDING showed good early speed then dropped back a bit, lost position near the three-eighths pole, shifted four wide nearing the quarter-pole, rallied into the final furlong and closed well but was too late. MCKAYSPROSPECT showed good speed then moved clear, lost the lead near the seven-sixteenths pole, dropped back on the turn and tired. I'M A BAD MAN broke a bit awkwardly, raced three to four wide on the turn and missed the show. WHIZVILLE was well placed just off the pace, came three wide into the stretch and gave way. GENERAL NAEVUS was hard ridden towards the rear, raced three to four wide on the turn and failed to threaten. FORETHOUGHT broke a bit slow, was ridden along near the inside and failed to respond. RESPECT MATTERS broke awkwardly and was off slow, saved ground on the turn and never reached contention. CAPITAN JESS raced three to four wide on the turn and faltered.

MIDNIGHT EXPLOSION chased the pace on the outside, vied four wide on the turn, battled gamely in the stretch and proved best under strong urging. STORMY WEDDING set the pace under pressure, dueled between rivals on the turn, battled gamely in the stretch but missed. MIDNIGHT EXPLOSION was sell placed early then vied for the lead while five wide on the turn, was in a strong drive and drew off in mid stretch then as all out in late stretch to hold sway in the end. ROYAL NIGHT stalked the early pace while being well rated from the inside, saved ground on the far turn then slipped through the inside in mid stretch and drew off in late stretch to prove best. TWENTIETH CENTURY was unhurried early and settled, started a run on the far turn then swung out to be four wide in upper stretch, was bumped in mid stretch by AKA LILY'S LAD and closed well to be second best. NOBLE HOME was well placed while racing three wide on the backstretch, rallied three wide on the far turn making a strong bid to mid stretch then was bumped by STORMY WEDDING and hung in deep stretch. STORMY WEDDING set the early pace from the start then dueled for the lead from the inside on the backstretch and far turn, bore out in mid stretch and bumped with NOBLE HOME and weakened thereafter. Race Summary

FERDINAND'S FLYER chased the early pace while racing three wide, rallied on the turn to take command and drew clear in mid stretch then was kept to slight pressure while clearly much the best. NAMESAKE pressed the pace while racing two wide, was inside on the turn and in a long drive then tired in mid stretch but held the place safe in the end. STORMY WEDDING chased the early pace while inside, was shuffled back on the turn then swung out to be four wide in upper stretch and closed willingly late but was no threat. CLAUDIA'S FORUM was settled then steadied slightly off heels going into the turn then made a made a mild three wide rally in the stretch drive. TEXAS BAD BOY chased the early pace while two wide, was hard used to stay close then weakened in the stretch. K J'S BEAUX was unhurried early then angled in before the turn and raced three wide while being no threat. C E P A'S FORUM raced two wide on the turn and failed to menace. SHARP MOVE was no menace throughout. VALARS raced three wide on the turn while in the second flight then flattened out in the stretch drive. SUDDENLY KOOL was outrun. RUSTED STEEL hopped at the start and broke in then was hustled along the inside to set the early pace, was used up and stopped on the turn.

Race Summary

GROOMSMAN chased the pace on the outside, shifted out in upper stretch and closed strongly to win going away. STORMY DATE unseated the rider and ran loose during the post-parade, dueled on the outside, bumped hard with STORMY WEDDING while three wide midway through the turn, edged clear passing the quarter-pole, drifted in passing the eighth-pole and was overtaken. STORMY WEDDING dueled on the inside of STORMY DATE while off the rail, bumped hard with that rival midway through the turn, chased into upper stretch, had his path taken passing the furlong marker and weakened while well clear for the show. WISHINSKI chased the pace on the inside, saved ground on the turn and tired. DOWNTOWN JONES drifted in early, dropped back while hard ridden, raced off the rail on the turn, shifted four wide near the quarter-pole and failed to threaten. BRAD'S SONG veered in at the start and bumped with a rival, trailed the field while off the rail and was no factor then was unsaddled near the seven-eighths pole but walked off. ITRON EXPRESS was recalcitrant behind the gate and very reluctant to load, checked while shut-off at the start, raced three wide on the turn and never reached contention. After the race, the stewards' conducted an inquiry concerning the second and third place finishers. Following the review, there was no change made to the order of finish.
