| Race Summary |
|
VICTORY BLUE, bumped at the start by POE REEF,
settled four wide in hand, was roused left-handed at the furlong
grounds, took over a sixteenth out and edged clear. FAST N READY
contested the pace near the inside from early on, gained the lead
soon after going a quarter, drew clear in the upper stretch but
wasn't a match for the winner late. MARIANAS moved to the front
early three or four wide, surrendered it to FAST N READY from the
inside, continued up close into the upper stretch but weakened.
GLACKITY GLACK, well placed inside from early on, raced within easy
striking distance and failed to rally. POE REEF broke in at the
start brushing the side of the gate, bumped the winner, was steadied
in tight quarters to trail, raced near the inside, made a mild run
into the upper stretch but couldn't sustain the needed momentum.
HACKER CRAFT followed the leaders five wide to the stretch and
failed to fire. SCOTT'S TIME, four wide, wasn't a serious factor.
GOLDEN K raced forwardly between foes four wide early and weakened
on the turn. |

|
SHIFT TIME went up early to vie for the lead
outside CATIT three or four wide, took over a quarter-mile out, then
was hard ridden the remainder. CAJUN MON drifted out at the start,
was unhurried three or four wide, ranged up outside the winner five
wide leaving the eighth pole and wasn't good enough. MARIANAS, never
far back, raced inside, loomed prominently from the rail for the
last eighth and came up empty. MEAN BUSINESS bobbled at the start,
tracked the pace four wide into the stretch and flattened out.
POSSUM broke slowly in the air, bobbled when landing and never
menaced. CATIT gained a slim lead early while dueling two wide,
battled with the winner to the final quarter and gave way readily.

LOUIS THE BOLD came out at the start bumping SHIFT
TIME, was never far back and three or four wide, moved to challenge
leaving the turn, gained a slim lead, battled with INDEPENDENT
BANKER into the final furlong while inside that one and drove clear
under urging. INDEPENDENT BANKER settled within easy striking
distance four or five wide, moved with the winner while outside that
one approaching the stretch, battled on even terms into the final
furlong but couldn't keep pace in the late going as second best.
SHIFT TIME, bumped at the start by the winner and DANCE ON, was
steadied, moved up quickly to vie for the advantage inside, gained a
slight edge, held on well for a half and gradually weakened.
MARIANAS tracked the pace from the outset four wide, pulled the
rider to the fore on the turn but weakened entering the stretch. NI
KEL WILLY, four or five wide much of the way, had no rally. DANCE ON
came in at the start bumping SHIFT TIME, raced four or five wide and
wasn't a factor in the stretch run. MARINA KING never menaced.

| Race Summary |
|
LIGHTNING LARRY raced close up off the rail,
rallied to a clear lead in the stretch and held sway at the wire.
MORADA KEY raced off the rail near the middle of the field and
rallied late but missed. YES IT'S THE TRUTH raced close up inside,
angled out and lacked a winning bid. WRECKOUT set the pace from the
inside but could not last. STORMING MARINE lacked speed and improved
his position. DIPLOMATIC CHARM raced near the middle of the field
and was not a factor. CORAGIL CAT steadied at the start and failed
to reach contention. CHEROKEE LEGACY raced close up off the rail and
gave way. MARIANAS was always outrun. FORTUNE HUNTER was fractious
in the gate, broke awkwardly and was never close. BACHICHO trailed
throughout. |
