SON OF THE WEST up close from inside, angled out into the turn, was forced out a bit by the winner when he came out for the drive, angled back in and was empty for the drive. MR BLACKSTONE was never a threat. DEVIL DAWG well placed while never far back but lacked the late response needed. MARINA KING had a steady fade.

CAJUN MON drifted out at the start, was unhurried three or four wide, ranged up outside the winner five wide leaving the eighth pole and wasn't good enough. MARIANAS, never far back, raced inside, loomed prominently from the rail for the last eighth and came up empty. MEAN BUSINESS bobbled at the start, tracked the pace four wide into the stretch and flattened out. POSSUM broke slowly in the air, bobbled when landing and never menaced. CATIT gained a slim lead early while dueling two wide, battled with the winner to the final quarter and gave way readily.

LOUIS THE BOLD came out at the start bumping SHIFT TIME, was never far back and three or four wide, moved to challenge leaving the turn, gained a slim lead, battled with INDEPENDENT BANKER into the final furlong while inside that one and drove clear under urging. SHIFT TIME, bumped at the start by the winner and DANCE ON, was steadied, moved up quickly to vie for the advantage inside, gained a slight edge, held on well for a half and gradually weakened. MARIANAS tracked the pace from the outset four wide, pulled the rider to the fore on the turn but weakened entering the stretch. NI KEL WILLY, four or five wide much of the way, had no rally. DANCE ON came in at the start bumping SHIFT TIME, raced four or five wide and wasn't a factor in the stretch run. MARINA KING never menaced.
