DEVIL'S PREACHER rated off the pace four wide, bid into the final turn, eased to the outside of Mystery Prospect near the sixteenth pole and edged ahead toward the wire. MYSTERY PROSPECT rated close two deep, dug in for the lead in midstretch, was briefly clear at the sixteenth pole then outfinished the closing yards. RACHEL'S DANCER rated a short lead inside, contested the rail toward the quarter pole then yielded inside the eighth pole. CHAMPAGNE BRUNCH rated off the pace and off the rail, held aim on the leaders through the turn then weakened into the lane. GOLD HOUSE was through after three quarters. COHN BLUE (IRE) showed no speed then no rally. ADJUST rated off the pace about the three path and had no rally. WEEDLE showed no speed inside.

SPARK OF HUMOR saved ground into the stretch, eased out and rallied to catch PROFESSOR BIGGS at the sixteenth pole, then was fully extended to hold off GOLD HOUSE. The latter, rated off the pace, raced four wide around the far turn and rallied to gain the place while unable to run down the winner. DEVIL'S PREACHER bumped with STORMY ROMAN at the start, steadied in traffic on the first turn, advanced along the rail around the far turn and into the stretch to loom a threat, then flattened out. STORMY ROMAN unhurried after bumping with DEVIL'S PREACHER at the start, closed with a belated rally. CHAMPAGNE BRUNCH tracked the pace along the inside, advanced to reach contention in midstretch but couldn't sustain his bid. PROFESSOR BIGGS sprinted to a long lead, increased his advantage racing into the far turn, then drifted out in the stretch, shortened stride and gave way in the final sixteenth. COHN BLUE (IRE) reserved off the pace, didn't do enough late. DYNAGLIDER failed to menace. MYSTERY PROSPECT steadied in the early going, saved ground and never threatened. VERISMO tracked the pace into the stretch and was outfinished. ALY'S WHEAT was not a factor. INSTINCTIVELY raced four wide and had no response when asked. TOPSIDE TRADER raced in striking position into the stretch, then tired. MASCOT raced three wide and faltered.

GOLD HOUSE stalked the pace, eased out leaving the far turn, closed and narrowly prevailed. RUSSIAN AFFAIR lacked speed, swung to the six path at the head of the stretch and rallied. HIGHLAND CAT saved ground and rallied. GATORNATION lacked speed, swung to the five path in upper stretch and gained ground late. DARENTO , four wide the first turn, raced five wide on the far turn and was no factor. FRIENDLY SEA saved ground and was steadied when blocked inside the sixteenth pole. CAPO DEI CAPI stalked the pace three wide and faltered. VALENTINE AVENUE dueled two wide and faltered. CLOSERTOYOURHEART , three wide the first turn, raced four wide the far turn and gave way. CLYDETHEGLYDE , steadied soon after the break, was outrun and swung extremely wide entering the stretch. IMPERTURBABLE , outrun, raced very wide entering the stretch. SPEEDOMINATOR set the pace along the rail and stopped.
