MARCAVELLY, in hand while following the dueling
leaders early, inched up on the far turn, swept to the front four
wide in the upper stretch, quickly kicked clear and was going under
energetic hand urging at the end. IN JEST, steadied behind rivals on
the first turn, lost position on the backstretch, advanced between
foes approaching the stretch, angled seven wide for the drive and
was second best. COBRADOR broke out into the side of the gate, was
unhurried, raced four wide for six furlongs, maneuvered wider for
the drive but couldn't challenge the top two in the late going.
SEDGEFIELD went up to vie for the lead early while three or four
wide in hand, battled with ROYAL WAR ACADEMY from the outside,
managed a slight edge into the lane and weakened. ROYAL WAR ACADEMY
contested the pace inside from the start, battled on about even
terms with SEDGEFIELD into the stretch and weakened. EVERYMAN had no
rally. U D GHETTO raced forwardly near the inside for six furlongs
and faltered. CODEWORD (IRE) settled near the inside, eased out
three or four wide on the far turn, continued in that manner into
the lane and never fired. LURE MY DAISY raced forwardly between foes
three or four wide to the end of the backstretch and tired.

three-wide late turn, bid at the top of the stretch, drew clear then
held, driving. MARCHFIELD raced midpack, closed four-wide late turn
and finished determinedly. JIGGS COZ, close early, took command
early on the backstretch, moved clear quickly, set the pace then
yielded at the top of the stretch. THOMPSON LAKE, well back early,
circled four-wide on the far turn but failed to menace. GOLANI raced
off the pace, was hustled between foes late turn then moved to the
inside and was all out along the rail in the stretch. SEASIDE LINKS,
off the early pace, raced three-deep and finished all out. MIKE FOX,
well-placed early, launched his bid late turn, failed to get up and
tired. COBRADOR raced evenly from off the pace, came three-wide
through the turn and lacked a rally. MONEY PLAYER, always well back,
was hustled into the stretch but never threatened. CARYSFORT LIGHT,
in range early between foes, chased on the turn then tired in the
stretch. FIRE ROCK, in touch early, faded on the far turn. MACCABI

| Race Summary |
|
ADMIRAL BIRD, rated off the dueling leaders three
or four wide early, swept to the front in the upper stretch, drew
clear, then was fully extended to last. TWILIGHT METEOR hopped while
breaking slowly, settled near the inside, eased out four or five
wide leaving the second turn, had aim in the drive but couldn't get
up. COBRADOR, within striking distance always and five wide, fanned
wider in the upper stretch but couldn't muster the needed response.
EIGHTEENTHOFMARCH forced the pace from early on, engaged
front-running PETE THE POET in earnest on the backstretch, headed
that one for the lead, battled up close to the lane and weakened.
SCOTT'S TIME settled in behind horses early, worked his way out five
wide entering the upper stretch and failed to respond. PETE THE POET
broke sharply to gain the lead, opened a clear advantage on the
first turn, was headed on the backstretch from the outside by
EIGHTEENTHOFMARCH, continued up close to the stretch and faltered.
INDEPENDENT BANKER tracked the dueling leaders three or four wide
for six furlongs and weakened. |

COBRADOR raced close up three wide, rallied in the
stretch and prevailed in a hard drive. TOM ARCHDEACON raced four
wide near the middle of the field, rallied and lost a close
decision. JUMP 'IEN raced inside and rallied belatedly for a share.
HENRYJOHNAPPROVAL bore out on the first turn, set the pace from off
the rail while pressed and weakened. JAZZ QUEST lacked speed three
wide and was not a factor. TOUCHDOWN PEYTON lacked speed off the
rail and was outrun. GOLETA SUMMIT pressed the pace from the inside
and tired. RIVERSIDE RASCAL hesitated and broke slowly then trailed
throughout. |
